NODEM 2006 was a conference and an exhibition that focused on digital media in interpretative processes in museums. This point of departure defines digital media – and ICT in general – as mediating and supporting individual and group interpretations of museum artifacts. The main conference topics were following:

  • Studies of digital media as interpretive tools, including mobile terminals, web-based applications, MR (mixed reality), VR (virtual reality), and AG (augmented reality)
  • Methodological approaches to understanding digital interpretations in museums
  • Studies of social, cultural, institutional and technical infrastructures for digital interpretations
  • Theoretical perspectives on objects, social interaction, and digital technologies in interpretative experiences in museum exhibitions.
