Vision for Museums (1999-2007) is an R&D programme initiated at the Interactive Institute in Stockholm. Its activity was primarily focused on developing innovative digital guides and interactive media for communication and interpretation in a variety of museum environments. Several novel storytelling techniques and digital interfaces were prototyped within this framework using a cross-disciplinary methodology that combined visitor studies and interaction design in cooperation with museums, the IT and ICT sector and universities. The credo and goal of Visions for Museums was, through cross-sectoral collaborations and applied projects, to inspire an effervescence of new interpretive tools and digital solutions in the context of museum communication.
