Knowledge Transfer
Visitor Study Lab
The Visitor Study Lab (1999–2000) was created exclusively to assess visitor interaction patterns in exhibitions using digital, interpretive installations, their impact on the visitor experience, as well as knowledge acquisition. The lab contains digital tracking and digital recording equipment which can be installed in various cultural heritage environments.
The Visitor Study Lab was applied during the development of an exhibition concept and interactive interpretations for “China before China”, an exhibition at the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, Stockholm. The exhibition consisted of a large number of installations using texts, photos, images, moving images, colour, light, sound, music, etc. The Visitor Study Lab conducted a visitor evaluation study, represented by pupils between the ages of 10-12 years, as well as a focus group discussion with the museum’s educators and curators.
