Digital Heritage Center offers services and products that support innovation in digital cultural heritage. The center is a spin-off from a research studio at the Interactive Institute Swedish ICT in Stockholm, Sweden established in 1999. We collaborate with a large network of researchers, SMEs, governmental agencies, academia, museums, science centers, regional and national heritage boards, libraries and other memory institutions in Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Objectives
- Foster innovation in museums and cultural heritage organizations;
- Bridge the gap between professionals and researchers in cultural heritage, technology sector and the creative industries;
- Transfer knowledge and share best practices concerning the usage of new technology for cultural heritage;
- Develop regional expertise centers in digital cultural heritage.

- Experimental Lab- New interfaces for innovative communication with visitors;
- Research methodologies in prototyping new concepts for museums;
- The Visitor Study Lab — a lab to assess visitor interaction patterns at exhibitions;
- Interactive Salon — an international ambulating exhibition showcasing innovative technologies and concepts for communication with visitors in different museum environments;
- Know-how books — a series of publications to facilitate knowledge transfer from Research to Practice, from academics and creative professionals to museum practitioners;
- NODEM (Nordic Digital Excellence in Museums) (link to NODEM) — an international conference series focused on the implementation of digital media in sites of cultural experience;
- Digital Intangible Heritage of Asia (DIHA) — a research cluster in Asia to connect intangible and tangible heritage through digital media;
- NODEM Digital Repository — an online platform which preserves and freely shares a number of projects, study cases and novel ideas from academics, researchers and museum practitioners in the context of innovating the cultural heritage field.
